XAF Core Philosophy: Architecture That Connects

Here's the uncomfortable truth that every architecture function eventually confronts: you can have the best frameworks, the most detailed standards, and the smartest architects — and still produce architecture that doesn't actually work.

Not because it's wrong. Because it's disconnected.

Business architects produce capability models that technology architects never see. Data architects define governance frameworks that security architects weren't consulted on. Solution architects make decisions in isolation, then everyone wonders why integration testing takes twice as long as planned. Each domain optimises locally while the organisation suffers globally.

Traditional frameworks haven't solved this. TOGAF, Zachman, SABSA — they're comprehensive in theory but leave the practical integration to individual interpretation. Organisations spend months building "architecture capability maturity" before delivering any value. Architecture becomes something that happens to delivery, not with it.
