XAF Connected Architecture is proprietary to InnovateX Solutions, with a free licence for internal organisational use.

What's permitted:

  • Using XAF to implement architecture governance within your own organisation
  • Adapting the framework to fit your organisational context
  • Creating internal documentation, templates, and processes based on XAF
  • Referencing XAF in your internal architecture practice

What requires a commercial licence:

  • Using XAF to deliver professional services, consulting, or implementation services to third parties
  • Developing templates, tools, or accelerators based on XAF and selling them commercially
  • Repackaging or reselling XAF content as part of a commercial offering
  • Representing XAF as your own framework when delivering services to clients

In plain terms: If you're implementing XAF for yourself, go for it — that's exactly what it's here for. If you're a consultancy wanting to use XAF to deliver services to your clients, or you're planning to build a template business off the back of our framework, talk to us about a commercial arrangement.

This approach lets us share the framework freely with organisations who need it while protecting the investment we've made in developing it. Other consultancies are welcome to partner with us rather than compete using our own IP.
